Background: |
Mark Gannon is the product of a military family who
decided with his wife, Kathie, to make Atlanta their home. Their two
sons were born and raised here and they live close by. Mark and
Kathie have both been deeply involved in their community and their
professions. Mark helped establish Student Legal Services while at
Emory and this student legal organization continues to provide free
legal services to all employees of Emory University. He has been the
president of his School Board of Education, a little league coach
and Board member, and an ardent supporter of Kids’ Chance since its
inception. Kathie is a social worker who founded Georgia Court
Appointed Special Advocates (CASA); a community and environmental
advocate who was president of her civic association; and is a DeKalb
County Commissioner representing the Western half of DeKalb County.
Mark and Kathie enjoy living in Decatur, Georgia, and are members of
St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
